BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Chaparral High School Art Club’s Breakfast with Santa is an annual event that has been taking place for the past 22 years. Taking place at the Harmon Library located in a very economically depressed neighborhood in downtown South Phoenix.

The goal of the breakfast is to bring holiday joy to children who would not necessarily be afforded this opportunity without us.

Please Bring a New Unwrapped Toy $10-12 Toy By November 27th!!!  We are also in need of wrapping paper, tape and ribbons.

On the day of the event, always a Saturday, around 100 Chaparral students make their way to the Library to set up. We have several craft projects, this year ornaments, bookmarks and foam gingerbread boys, face painting, coloring, games, story time and Santa. The Library kids will have an opportunity to talk to Santa, played by an art club officer. Breakfast will be served and the carefully wrapped new toys will be distributed. Our limit this year was 90 kids but soon 35 more just had to be included and we try to welcome all who come. This year we 128 officially signed up. Last year there were well over 250 people in attendance and smiles were the most abundant commodity.

The Chaparral students who participate from those who just bring toys, to those who attend the event all gain so much more than they give. It is a good time to be reminded to be grateful for what we have and the old adage it is better to give than receive.

This year’s event will take place Saturday December 9, 2017 at The Harmon Library 1325 South 5th Street   Phoenix AZ from 8am -12 noon.
