Spring Fundraiser – Chaptown Love Wishlist!
ChapTown Love is the tagline for the arm of CHAPTS that builds community, connections and resources. CHAPTS also holds our spring fundraiser under the name of ChapTown Love Wishlist Event. This year with our online fundraising efforts we are going to focus on teacher wishlist Items as well as Chaparral campus beautification.

The goal is to raise $25,000 for our teachers and beautification!
Teacher Wishlist items include
– Rehabilitation pottery wheel – art
– dissection projects – science
– drum heads for marching band, jazz band and concert band

– speech therapy materials and a Dyson vacuum – life skills
– science kits and books
– printer ink cartridges
Campus Beautification Projects have not been finalized, but projects being considered are: artificial turf by the auditorium, refurbishing picnic tables by the cafeteria and artificial turf by the cafeteria.

We are looking for individuals and businesses to help offset the cost of Project Graduation, the all night, drug-free, alcohol-free graduation party for seniors. Sponsorships start at just $100. Sponsorships help with scholarships and to off-set the cost of the event. Donations are tax deductible and you will receive recognition in the graduation program, on the CHAPTS website and in the CHAPTS newsletter. Please go here for the sponsorship information. Chaparral will be offering a FREE field trip to visit the EVIT campus in Mesa on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 8:00am – 12:30pm, for students currently in 10th and 11th grades.
EVIT is a public career and technical education school providing more than 40 occupational training programs and tuition-free to district students. EVIT offers many school-to-work options with participating businesses and opportunities in job placement, internships and college credit articulation. Check out their website for more details on programs available. www.evit.com Chaparral students attending EVIT typically have three classes at Chaparral and three credit classes at EVIT. Free round-trip bus transportation is provided from the Chaparral campus.

In light of the recent events and an the effort to provide a safe and supportive environment, we invite parents and teachers to “Empowering Our Community – how to reach, teach, and support our students.” This educational event is a collaborative effort between Parents, Cocopah Middle School and SUSD.
Katey McPherson, highly respected for her expertise on digital media, childhood brain development, and teen suicide prevention, will share important signs that we need to be aware of. Chief Security Officer, James Dorer and Shannon Cronn, Clinical Support Coordinator, will discuss how our district handles crisis and supports the well being of all our students.

Dear Community Member,
On Thursday, May 24, 2018 Chaparral High School will be hosting our graduation commencement for a class of 550 seniors. In support of the national initiative to keep our kids safe, sober and off the streets on the night of this very important life event, Project Graduation has been instituted at Chaparral, and has been very well received.
Our goal is to have 100% of the graduates participate. We strive to offer a fun environment that keeps them entertained and engaged throughout the overnight hours of graduation night, and therefore safe and alcohol-free.
We are requesting support from the community would like to ask for a donation of $100, $250 or $500 from community members or community business’. This money would help offset some of the additional expenses of hosting a very large group. CHAPTS is a 501c3 and your donation is tax deductible.
Please let us know what additional information you might need to come to a favorable decision to support Chaparral’s Project Graduation 501c(3). It is our greatest hope that Project Graduation will be going strong for many years to come, with your help this will be a reality! Thank your in advance for your support.

CAREER DAY PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Many thanks for the amazing response from our Chaparral parents to participate in our Career Day on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, from 8:30-11:30am, in the auxiliary gym.
We would like a few more participants to round out our Career Day event. The following are additional occupations that would be of interest to our students:

|· Counseling Psychologist|
|· Graphic Designer
|· Legal (Paralegal, Court Reporter)|
|· Veterinarian/Zoologist/Animal Care|
The program will be informal. Students will stop by your table to ask questions about your career, a typical workday, and education requirements. The school-wide event will last three hours with students rotating in and out every 40 minutes. Tables will be provided for each participant. Please bring a tablecloth and as an option, any giveaways — students love freebies (i.e., pens, candy, promotional items, etc.).
